Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon ketchup

3/4 cup beef stock or 1 beef cubes,dissolved in 1 hot water and cool before adding

1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 large potatoes,peeled and cubed

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon onion,finely chopped

1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

5 medium carrots,chopped

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 onion,chopped

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

1)Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.Add potatoes and cook until tender,about 15 mins.Take out all the potatoes from the pot and drain and mash.But leave the salted hot water in the pot for carrots.

Mix in butter,finely chopped onion and 1/4 cup shredded cheese.Season with salt and pepper to taste.

2)Add the carrots in the pot and cook until tender,about 15 mins.Drain and mash.

3)Preaheat oven to 375 degrees F(190 degrees C).Prepared a casserole baking dish.

4)Heat oil in a large frying pan.Add onion and cook until tender.Add ground beef and cook until browned.Drain all the fat,then stir in flour and cook in 1 min.

Add ketchup and beef broth;bring to boil,reduce heat and simmer for 5 mins.

5)Spread the ground beef in an even layer on the bottom of a casserole baking dish,next spread a layer of mashed carrots.Top with the mashed potatoes mixture and sprinkle with remaining shredded cheese.

6)Bake for 20 mins,or until golden brown.
